Liz Aspeling has nearly 40 years experience teaching children. At Rhodes University Liz qualified as a senior primary school teacher. She completed her speech and hearing defects teaching qualification in 1977 at the University of Cape Town, later qualifying as a reception year teacher.
“My calling is to help pre-school and primary school children who aren’t coping at school or in family life because of their struggles with listening, concentration, general understanding and literacy gaps,” says Liz. “A key is including parents in my sessions with the child. Many struggles can be dealt with through family skill building and new family habits”.
With three adult children out of the nest, Liz’s expertise in healthy family life is tried and tested.
Common learning areas Liz deals with are:
Auditory perception problems
Literacy gaps and listening skills
Articulation
Self control
Concentration and following instructions
Storytelling and vocabulary challenges
Liz offers private lessons from her practice in Kenilworth and teaches group classes at several primary schools in Cape Town’s southern suburbs.
